South Ward SID Reelects Full Officer Slate, Welcomes New Board Member
Economic development, streetscape improvements and quality of life programs continue as top priorities in 2018.
The Board of Directors of the Bergen-Lyons-Clinton Partnership (BLCSID) has reelected its full slate of officers for 2018. Pastor Philip Gilmore of St. John’s Community Baptist Church will return as President, joined by First Vice President Darrell K. Terry, Sr., President & CEO, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center & Children’s Hospital of NJ, Second Vice President Atiya Jaha-Rashidi, Director of Patient Experience, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center & Children’s Hospital of NJ, Treasurer Linda Campbell, Bank Officer/Branch Manager, City National Bank and Secretary Angela Pedone, Commercial Property Owner.
Known locally as the South Ward SID, the Partnership also welcomed a new board member, Rev. Dr. Allen Stephen Potts, Pastor of the Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church on Lyons Avenue in Newark.
Other board members include South Ward Councilman John Sharpe James, Marilyn Harris, Senior Vice President, Community Relations, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center & Children’s Hospital of NJ, Mark Bocchieri, Director of External Affairs, Verizon, Carlton West, Vice President, Real Estate, City National Bank, Macon Cotton, Owner and Oswald Boykins, Director, Cotton Funeral Services, Pastor Bryant Ali, New Psalmist Worship Center, Mohamed Solamain, Clinton Pharmacy, Al Samad Ali Sawab, Resident & Property Owner, Imam Aqeel

Local companies, corporations and organizations represented on the board include Bartlett Dairy Industries, White Castle Corporation, Verizon Communications, Wells Fargo, City National Bank, Newark CEDC and Cotton Funeral Services.
The BLCSID was established to help the area compete, improve and sustain commercial viability. A public/private partnership between the City of Newark, local business and commercial property owners and residents, the SID focuses on generating economic activity and community development, in addition to an aggressive streetscape maintenance program.
