City of Newark to Enforce Vacant Property Ordinance
Attention property owners in the South Ward SID. The Office of Housing & Economic Development will be enforcing the City’s Vacant Property Ordinance (6S&FA060211), adopted in 2011. If you own/manage a vacant property, please be aware of your responsibilities.
In the weeks ahead, the SID will be contacting all vacant commercial and abandoned property owners and foreclosure lien trustees in the district, advising them to register their properties as vacant and/or bring their properties up to City Maintenance Code. We will also advise them to contact the Housing & Economic Development and Water Departments regarding outstanding fees and liens as well.
Our goal? To develop a robust, up-to-date list of vacant properties immediately available for rent or sale to list on our website. And, to invite property owners to participate in the SID’s upcoming series of Spring Gates Up Open House Meet & Greets.
At the events, property owners with vacant space (commercial and residential) will meet developers, real estate and insurance brokers, investors, lending and holdings institutions, construction companies, laborers, property management companies, franchise business owners/recruiters, buyers, and small business merchants.
